ACTLean and Schuh & Company announce Lean Innovation Workshop in Atlanta, GA
Lawrenceville, GA, October 1, 2010 – ACTLean will offer a 2-day workshop discussing Lean Innovation Topics in Atlanta, GA on November 4th and 5th, 2010. The workshop will focus on methods to create more customer value with fewer resources in product development.
What does Lean Thinking have to do with Product Development?
The biggest waste in Innovation is to come up with a product design no customer is asking for, followed by creating a product design that is unnecessarily expensive and complex to manufacture. Another common waste is not meeting project deadlines and spending more precious resources than necessary during the design work.
This is where Lean Innovation comes into play
The basic idea behind the Lean Management approach is to create value without waste. This idea also transfers to the research and development processes. Under the leadership of the Technical University of Aachen, Germany, some 142 enterprises, among them renowned companies like Audi, Airbus, BASF, MTU, and Porsche, worked together and researched twelve core principles of Lean Innovation.
Through a successful implementation of the Lean Innovation principles, the net benefit of research and development can be maximized, therefore achieving a high innovation performance with appropriate efforts.
In this workshop we will present the key principles of how to effectively organize the R&D process to deliver customer value at lower cost. You will also be introduced to the state-of-the-art methods to actually make it happen in your organization. Additional break-out sessions will provide the opportunity to share your experiences informally with other R&D professionals.
The workshop is held at the Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center in Atlanta, GA for $985. Price includes tuition, all training materials, breakfast, lunch and snacks each day as well as networking and dinner on Day 1.
For complete details about content, instructors, discounts, and to register, go to www.actlean.org/leaninnovation or call 678-810-0885.
What is Lean Thinking?
Lean Thinking means “Creation of Value without Waste”.
The goal of Lean Thinking is to streamline all activities necessary for the creation of value and eliminate everything else. A strong orientation towards the customers, their expectations and requirements of the product regarding price, availability, and quality, has to be balanced with the internal perspective of the enterprise, it's processes and systems.

Lawrenceville, GA, September 3, 2010 – ACTLean will offer a 2-day workshop discussing Lean Innovation Topics in Atlanta, GA on November 4th and 5th, 2010. The goal of the seminar is to teach practical approaches of Lean Management thinking for innovation and development departments and the successful implementation of these techniques.
In a global environment, fewer and fewer companies are able to successfully differentiate themselves with incremental product advantages. Notable product innovations therefore increasingly build the foundation for international competitiveness. Having the right innovation and development management is decisive, because only companies that can offer their customers unique solutions with sustainable benefits can maintain their position in the market. The central questions are how the impact or output of the innovation and development management can be increased; while at the same time improving the efficiency. True product differentiation today and in the future has to be achieved by using fewer resources.

ACTLean and Schuh & Co. presents the Lean 101 Never Ending Card Manufacturing Simulation and Demonstration Videos now available for FREE download

Dacula, GA, Sept 13, 2010 – ACTLean is proud to introduce the Lean 101 Never Ending Card Manufacturing Simulation Game to clarify and visualize the effect of Lean Principles.

The Goal

The Never Ending Card Simulation demonstrates the benefits of pull production and production cells (lean manufacturing) versus push/batch production (MRP). The game compares batch or push production techniques to one piece pull production using sequential production and point-of-use methodology. It shows how quality and productivity improve while reducing WIP inventory, scrap, rework, and floor space. The game has been designed for 6-12 participants with unlimited observers. It is based upon each participant taking an active role in running a mini-production line where “real” products are manufactured.

Simulation exercises to help manufacturing teams understand:

*  The pros and cons of "push" vs, "pull" manufacturing systems

*  The root cause of shop floor chaos and workplace stress

*  The importance of line flow technology

*  The power of sequential production and point-of-use logistics

*  How to move from "firefighting" to proactive problem solving

*  How to successfully implement a lean manufacturing initiative.

Our videos provide an easy to understand demonstration of the Never Ending Card Simulation in a fun and creative format.  So easy, even a kid could do it.

ACTLean is now offering a FREE download for the Never Ending Card Simulation, which includes the PDF print out of the card and detailed set up instructions and result analysis.  For complete details about the Never Ending Card Simulation Game and how to download the simulation and any of our demonstration videos, click here or call 678-810-0885.
